How to Choose Between the Maldives, Bora Bora and the Caribbean

Start with travel time
From most of North America, the Caribbean is a half day, Bora Bora is a long day with an inter-island connection, and the Maldives is close to two. On a seven-night honeymoon, travel time is not a detail — it is a third of the decision.
Then the water and the food
The Maldives offers the most consistent reef snorkeling directly from the villa. Bora Bora offers the most dramatic lagoon setting. The Caribbean offers the widest range of dining and the easiest island-hopping.
Season is the tiebreaker
Each region has a distinctly better window. If your dates are fixed by a wedding, let the calendar choose the destination rather than the other way around.
